Event Details
In the spring of 2018, The Michael J. Armstrong Memorial foundation sought to partner with The Dennis P. McHugh Public Library and the film program at South Orangetown's Tappan Zee High School to develop "Five-Minute Flicks," a film competition that would celebrate the creative endeavors of local students while honoring the life of Michael J. Armstrong, a victim of the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.
The annual competition challenges entrants to tell a compelling story in any theme or genre of their choosing in five minutes or less. Prizes are awarded for First Place ($500), Second Place ($300), and Third Place ($200) while the efforts of all are celebrated in an environment that reflects Armstrong's fun-loving spirit.
It is the hope of the Foundation that the prize money will be spent to further enhance the students' love of film.
